Anyway

So I’m sitting on the grass:

Soaking up those melanoma- inducing

Golden Rays of sunshine—

Bug’s chewing on exposed patches of skin,

And the wind that keeps creeping up raising goosebumps-

Which makes it harder to tan;

But I’m just sitting there anyway

I’m sitting on the grass:

I’m watching this line of ants on the

Pavement beside me-

And I’m feelin’ kinda like the cricket

In that one fable?

‘Cause all I wanna do is lie there

In those toxic rays

And those ants keep working- saving up

For the Winter-

Or something.

And I’m feelin’ kinda guilty—

But I’m just sitting there anyway.

I’m sitting on the grass:

Feelin’ kinda lonely,

Especially when I look up

At the tree above me,

And I see these two birds

Around the collection of twisted twigs and Mcdonald’s straws

They call a home-

And they’re feeding chunks of worms to these

Screeching little birds-

And I think… maybe…

Instead of baking in the radioactive rays

Getting gnawed by invisible bugs

………

But I’m still sitting there anyway.

I’m sitting on the grass

Skin turned red and kinda waxy

Like a half-eaten apple;

Thinking to myself that the bugs aren’t half bad

And the wind is bearable

But those birds have got to go because

One of them just crapped in my shoe;

And I’m reading this report on the

Increased Risk of Skin Cancer

Because of a hole in the Ozone layer-

Somewhere over Austrailia-

And one of those ants is crawling on my leg

Which kinda tickles—

But I’m still just Sitting there anyway.
